One of the Worst Days

The 24th of April happened to be one of the worst days in the last few years. It started out going to a golf course at 7:30 AM to play a semi game of golf. We had to go to Tooele cause it is on the way to Wendover where we have the Utah High School Football Coaches clinic.

After golfing we go to eat some lunch stopping at a mexican restaurant. They provide free chips and salsa so as we are eating the salsa, I feel something hard that won't break, I pull it out and it is part of my tooth. That's right I had broken off a part of my tooth, uh oh. Luckily the tooth wasn't hurting but just was annoying in my mouth. The coaches ask me if I wanted to head home, since I didn't drive they would have to take me home. I called my sister who is in Dental Hygiene school and being an hour and half away if I had gone back to Provo wouldn't have been able to get anything done since all dentists would have been closed on Friday evening. So we proceed on to Wendover and have our coaches meeting in the hotel there.

After dinner a coach and I proceed to head home and he is driving the school car. about 3 exits from home on the freeway all of a sudden we hear a big ole pop. Pulling off to the side of the road, we see that the tire is coming apart at the seems and the tread is coming off. We pull out the spare, a donut spare (perfect on the freeway). It is 9:30 PM and starting to rain and the lugnuts are hard to get off I am literally having to move the car as I push the lugnuts loose. Oh btw the other coach is in his 70's so it is harder for him to help so it falls on me. To make this short we finally get the spare on after a passerby stopped with a flashlight which we didn't have on us.

However a police officer has stopped behind us just as we finished up on the tire, I start to drive the car to get it off at the exit and go slow since it is on a donut. I have to jump out from the shoulder get across an overpass and then back to the shoulder then off at the exit. Well as I turn after getting off at the exit I get pulled over by this police officer. He comes up to me asking why I was erratically driving, I explain then he says to me why are your tags expired. This is a drivers ed car so the school district had to update the registration. I explain it is a school car and he asks me why I am in a school car at 10:30 at night on a Friday night. I explain to him what was going on and hand him my license and the car registration. He comes back no ticket and lets me go. I finally deliver the car and head home. I finally got home at 11:30 PM and felt that I had been gone all weekend instead of just the day.

Switching to offensive line

We have had some changes within our coaching staff. No surprise right? I mean most of the times programs that have a ton of success are gonna get poached for other programs. Our Safeties/D-Coordinator (Jason Walker) has left to take over Westlake High School a new program here in Utah. Going with him is the other O-line coach, (Bruce Pitcher) to help run the O-line just as we do here at Timpview. Both are great coaches and I am confident that they will have Westlake turned into a power program. With all the growth that area is experiencing I look to see that school become a powerhouse in Utah.

Since Bruce is leaving, I am the only other coach besides Coach Wong that knows any of the blocking schemes or some of the drills to run for the O-line. Coach Wong has decided to move me over to the O-line to help the sophomores out and will bring in a new D-line coach for the sophomores. So if anyone checking my blog out has questions don't hesitate to ask me questions. as I get going into the drills that we do for our offensive line. Remember in the last 3 years we have sent 4 O linemen on to college to play D-1 ball. X committed to UCLA on National TV.

Ordered my ring

I am totally spoiled at this program, two straight state championships for me with the program. Coach V even said that to me the other day. It was funny cause I even said that to my mom. One thing I was annoyed with was that my digital camera broke or else I would have posted pics of the championship game for all to see.

But we are ordering a ring which will have three trophies in the middle of it with a blue background. Coach Wong is paying for the rings this time since it was such a monumental win. Wow what a great year. Now it is on to the offseason.

Three-Peat State Champions

So we did it, we won the state championship last Friday against Cottonwood 34-28.  We had spectacular play from our All-American player Xavier Su'a-filo.  He played for us on both sides of the ball, as left tackle and defensive tackle.  He blocked a punt and helped hold the middle to prevent Cottonwood's run game during the second half.  All of the coaches and players celebrated this monumental occasion and couldn't believe that we were able to accomplish this goal.

We are on a current 36 game win streak and we will see what happens with the coming season.  Right now we are also currently ranked #24 in the country according to USA Today and and 21st according to Rivals.com.  I can't believe that I get another ring for the second year in the row.  This time around we are going to go all out on the ring to commemorate this momentous occasion.  Once again Timpview Football is best in the state of Utah.

Semifinals

We won tonight our Quarterfinal game 42-13 against Skyview. It was basically a rout and now we go play the same team we did last year in the Semifinals. I lost my voice from yelling so loud.
